Hi guys I’m Freydl,, and here are my top tips of film funding on a low budget.
Number one!
One way to cut costs is through a tax relief programme, this can reduce the total expenditure of the film by 25% as well as dramatically reducing the budget.
Number two!
The BFI film fund is a lead UK film agency, which can invest £26 million, yes £26 million of Lottery Funds yearly to support your film development. This can help filmmakers like you with no budget gain funds in order to invest in equipment in order to take your film to the next level!
Number three!
BBC Films collaborate with filmmakers like you in order to creative films to be shown on the BBC. Your film could be on the BBC and be seen by everyone can you just imagine how amazing that is. They also funded The Apprentice. Could you be “hired” next?
Number four!
Film 4 invests 15 million annually in developing and financing films like yours, you can send your proposals via production companies and agents to get involved. One example of a TV shows that Film 4 invested in was the widely loved Inbetweeners! “Friends”.
Number five!
The Creative Film Fund also offers funds for your projects with regionally based filmmakers and projects with a voice which is very prominent within their region.
Number six!
The Culture sub – programme supports films which are cultural and are in the creative sectors, and will fund your projects for a spot in the credits or to attend VIP events to advertise their cause.
Number seven!
You may be thinking, what’s in return for being an investor? You can appear as an extra, get named in the credits and even attend VIP events. This could lead to your name being more established as an investor and give you the opportunity to invest in large scale productions e.g. Game Of Thrones, this will enable you to receive some of the profits as well!
Number eight!
Another way is to target private investors; these can be friends, family or anyone who would be interested in investing in your film. This is an easy way to raise some capital to take your film to the next level.
Number nine!
The last tip is most important… How to advertise your film! The main way to advertise is through social media such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. This method is free and a great way to reach out to a vast amount of investors.
