Budget video notes

Resource production - written and produced around the resources available.

Budget

• Location (ideally free or cheap without hassle)
• List actors (family and friends, note if experienced or not)
• Equipment (borrow for free or cheap)
• Props (borrow for free or cheap)
• Local events (APE free production values)

Script writing 

• Keep locations to minimum (feature film 4/5 main locations. Short film 1/2)
• Minimise travel time between locations (save time and money)
• Have 4/5 main characters 
• Write to actors strength 
• Avoid scenes with extras 
• Avoid outdoor night scenes (expensive lighting)
• Avoid CG and FX

Pre production 

• Location scout 
• Check actor and equipment availability (ideally well in advanced)

Production

• Be selective with camera movement 
• Produce cheap bulk meals for cast and crew 
• Film during magic/golden hour (shortly after sunrise)

Post production 

• Avoid copyrighted music
