Budget video notes
Resource production - written and produced around the resources available.
Budget
- Location (ideally free or cheap without hassle)
- List actors (family and friends, note if experienced or not)
- Equipment (borrow for free or cheap)
- Props (borrow for free or cheap)
- Local events (APE free production values)
Script writing
- Keep locations to minimum (feature film 4/5 main locations. Short film 1/2)
- Minimise travel time between locations (save time and money)
- Have 4/5 main characters
- Write to actors strength
- Avoid scenes with extras
- Avoid outdoor night scenes (expensive lighting)
- Avoid CG and FX
Pre production
- Location scout
- Check actor and equipment availability (ideally well in advanced)
Production
- Be selective with camera movement
- Produce cheap bulk meals for cast and crew
- Film during magic/golden hour (shortly after sunrise)
Post production
- Avoid copyrighted music
